Hi Friends!
It’s been a long winter! (A real long winter….) And it’s snowing while I type this! But now that the days are getting longer and the sun is starting to shine.. it’s time to get back on track.
I wouldn’t necessarily say I fall off the band wagon and eat everything in sight during the winter months, but I tend to watch more closely what I eat during the warmer months. I have extremely low blood sugar and with the temperatures heating up, I need to make sure I’m staying on track.
I’ve actually been getting a lot of questions lately on how I stay so thin. Honestly, I have been thin my whole life. (Good genes, I guess…) But my family has a history of diabetes and that scares me to death, so it definitely keeps me in check!
This is not an ad, but I wanted to share what works for me. I cannot say enough good things about the MyFitnessPal app. I am a calorie counter and use it to log my food on a daily basis.
Breakfast: One the go during the work week I will have a bowl of Fruity Pebbles or Special K. (2 cups) A Venti coffee from Starbucks with non-fat creamer. On the weekends I’ll make 1/2 cup scrambled egg whites, 1/2 plain bagel with vegan Earth Balance butter and 1/4 teaspoon Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel seasoning sprinkled on my eggs. And more coffee!!
Lunch: During the work week I’ll run up to the cafeteria for a fresh small grilled chicken & cheese quesadilla with fresh salsa. (Believe it or not, this is actually pretty healthy for you) Or I’ll bring a fresh salad from home.
Dinner: Mostly a can of soup. After working all day I just don’t feel like making a big meal.
Snack(s): I try to keep it to 90 calories or less. So I’ll grab a breakfast bar, mixed nuts or some whole grain pretzels. I use the portion bags (shown above) to measure out my snacks. Super easy and so convenient. I can toss them in my purse or the car when I’m on the move.
I hope you find it just as helpful as I do. I’m all about quick & easy so this app is at the top my of my list.
Thanks for checking in!!
xoxo Chanda
