The holidays are here and it’s almost 2024!! The best thing we can all do for our minds (and bodies) is practice self care. Whether you’re indulging in all of those added calories or shopping until you drop… take time to do something for YOU!
I try to stay on track each year around the holidays with healthy foods and increased exercise. I hit the treadmill because running outside when it’s 32 degrees is not fun. I also use light weights, do leg lifts and crunches. I have a stepper that comes in handy when I really want to step up (see what I did there) my cardio. I bought several risers for it to change up my workouts. Somedays you really want to hit it hard and somedays, well… it’s just hard to get going.
I recently bought a balance ball to help with balance. As I’m getting older I’ve noticed balance is a little more challenging when it comes to exercise, so I want to make sure I’m staying ahead of the game. I’ve started out slowly and will work towards higher repetitions. Try one… it’s not as easy as it looks.
Trying new products is also something I like to do to practice self care. I color my hair every 6-7 weeks (again that age thing is creeping in with grays) and it can be hard on your hair if you’re not using the correct products. Using hair dryers and curling irons every day can further damage your hair if you’re not careful. This heat stying product is a game changer. A couple of spritzes worked into the hair gives so much shine & softness after blow drying/styling. You’ll find it on my vanity from here on out.
What are some things you do to practice self care? I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a joyful new year!!
