Happy Monday!
It’s the week before the 4th of July and it’s always a busy one. We have a backyard barbeque every year (weather permitting) so I am always running around last minute getting items for the party.
This year we bought a larger table for our deck and I can’t wait to jazz it up with all things red, white and blue!!
I had some time to relax today after we put our table together, so I thought I would thumb through Instagram. I love checking in to see what other bloggers have going on.
I see a lot of jet setters being whisked off to fancy hotels, Caribbean islands.. surrounded by a buffet of breakfast in bed, sipping endless Rose`.. although wonderful and part of the job.. I thought I would share a little bit of reality behind the blogger.
It is 7:09 on Sunday night. I’ve been on the couch for about 2 hours now. I may have dozed off for a few minutes. The cat was sleeping.. why not? I had a photo in mind that I was going to post for tomorrow’s post, but stalling on executing because I have writers block.
My hair is up in a pony tail.. half hanging out because I was sleeping. (My neck is killing me because of the awkward position I was sleeping in) I now have a red mark on my left leg because I tried opening my laptop on my legs (while wearing shorts) and pinched the skin.
My anxiety is running high because, well.. I have a 9-5 job too and I HATE Monday morning when the alarm goes off at 5am. (Will I ever blog full time so I don’t have to get up so early?) The only thing I look forward to is my Venti Pike w/hazelnut coffee at Starbucks. Every day. That’s right.. the same thing every day. Sad when the Barista knows you by name.
I will schedule this post to run early Monday morning. As I sit eating my breakfast, I will check to make sure the post went live. I triple check to make sure everything is perfect because it’s out there for the world to see. And I want them to see perfect, right??
That’s where the reality comes in. Blogging is not perfect, nor will it ever be. My fellow bloggers who have been doing this for years are scrambling across the globe just like I am right now. But we wouldn’t have it any other way.
I have no idea what I’m going to post for the rest of the week. I hope to post two more times to keep readers interested, but the sad truth is.. with a 9-5 (that’s 40 hours a week), running a household, being a wife, catching up on blogger emails, negotiating with brands.. I can only do so much. I don’t have a team of people working for me. Add photographer in there because I don’t have one following me around every day.. editing.. and more editing to get the right amount of brightness to make the photo look perfect.
I think the reality of blogging is.. you don’t always see the reality. You see bits and pieces of our lives and it all adds up to being perfectly curated. Ask any blogger about the day in the life of a blogger. I guarantee they will all say the same thing.
Thanks for checking in!
PS.. I bought this top at TJ Maxx, but I’ve linked a similar one here.

ain’t that the truth! This is such a great post that really serves as a reminder that it’s not all glitter and rainbows and free goodies! Blogging takes hard work and dedication! Especially when combined with a full time job! There’s SO MUCH that goes into the back end side that our audience will never see… It’s a real labor of love! Keep up the great work!!

Love the honesty in the post and can totally relate. Working full time + maintaining a blog with all of the emails, social media posts, social media engagement, photo taking, photo editing…the list goes on and it’s hard work! (P.S. It’s amazing that you wake up at 5am. #goals)
