Happy Friday!
We made it to the weekend!! Was anyone else a little off with the short week? Ha ha.. I love a short work week, but it felt like the longest ever!
We host the 4th of July every year for my husbands family and this year (again) did not disappoint. It was originally supposed to rain, but it ended up being a gorgeous day.

The kids (and the adults) enjoy the pool, so it’s nice to have them over for the day. We have hot dogs, hamburgers and a ton of drinks. Virgin Pina Coladas for the littles.. complete with a cherry on top. They love floating around in the pool with their drinks. To be a kid again…
Paper Straws: Bed Bath & Beyond
This year I tried something a little different for the desserts. Last year I made festive waffle cones for ice cream cones and wanted to try something else this year. I found a recipe on Pinterest (click here) for stars & flag Rice Krispie treats. They looked so easy to make. I hadn’t made Krispie treats since I was in my teens living at home with my parents. They turned out soft and delicious, but boy was it a sticky mess! I used stars and flag cookie cutouts I found at our local grocery store. Click here for the brand that I purchased.
I also tried Rachel Parcell’s recipe for (indoor) S’mores. (Click here for the recipe) This too was a hit and I think it’s going to be on the menu for years to come. But if you make it… load it up with marshmallows. I actually ran out, so had to make do with what I had. It was still good.
My husband and I ended the evening on the small boat harbor just outside the City of Buffalo to watch the fireworks. We had clear skies and a perfect view once they started. It’s always a little sad when they end because that means summer is half over for us here in Buffalo. (Although it just started)
What are some traditions you do for the 4th of July? I hope you all had a great week!!
Thanks for checking in!
